So What Else will be helping to remove invasive plants from Greenbelt Park. This volunteer opportunity involves identifying and removing different invasive plants in Greenbelt Park. It is not a difficult or dangerous task. This hands-on volunteer project will take place every 1st Saturday of each month. 

Come out and help Greenbelt Park work hard to preserve the park for future generations.

Please bring insect and/or tick repellent, sunscreen and water.

Annual Cherry Blossom Festival

Hundreds of thousands of visitors come to the National Mall Memorial Parks every year to enjoy the beautiful cherry trees. Lots of visitors equal lots of waste, much of which can be recycled. So What Else will be helping National Park Service remove trash and recyclable material from the festival's grounds. As a volunteer you will be given trash grabbers to collect recyclables. Volunteers will also help remove full bags from recycling containers and replace them with empty bags. Gloves, trash grabbers and cool shirts will be provided.

Bikes for the World is a nonprofit that collects gently used bikes to make them available to lower income people and select institutions in developing countries to enhance their lives and livelihoods through better transport. 

Bikes for the World has asked So What Else for volunteers to help with bike repairs and preparation. Volunteers are needed to help man the warehouse. Volunteers are also needed to do things like helping to prepare and pack bikes to be shipped to other countries.

A Bike’s for the world employee will walk you through the preparation process. Come out and help us help them get the job done!

Bikes for the World has asked So What Else for adult volunteers to help facilitate the collection at REI Rockville (12-3pm) and man the warehouse (3-5pm) as drivers drive the bikes from REI back to their warehouse, also in Rockville.
